A woman lays a carnation with others next to a candle at the foot of the Arch at the end of a candlelight vigil for the victims of the Virginia Tech shootings a year ago today.

It was a short vigil. Not sure how many people showed up, but it was a good crowd. A few people spoke, the Air Force ROTC presented the colors, UGA a capella group Noteworthy sang a few songs, and the SGA president read the names of the 32 who died.

I hope I don’t sound like a dick in saying this, but I’ve never entirely understood why people do these sorts of things. Not my way, but I guess to each their own. This meant something to a lot of people tonight though, so I’m glad we went out and covered it.
